Why I love Jesus and Hate Religion

I do not know how many of you know the youtube video why I love Jesus and hate religion. But Jefferson Bethke is the author of this video and others that really get you to think about why you believe what you believe but also to challenge you to see how far you are willing to put yourself out there for others. Jeff also has now come out with a book. You are able to read the 1st chapter free on his website. I plan on doing this when I get a chance. But i highly suggest that you look up some of his videos they can make some great conversations!

Crazyness

Hey everyone, well it is finally summer!!! For me at least. Now with summer brings craziness and that means no schedule or routine for me. Which is something I am not to fond of. I like my routines that I normally have. It is just crazy to think my first year of college is done already. But this week as I am trying to control my life that I dont control anything. All of the planning and everything that takes place I have no control over. I am a control freak so this is hard for me because I want to plan everything out and follow a routine for everything. So this summer I decided to just go with the flow. I do not really have anything big planned but just going day by day. We will see if letting go of the control and letting God take care of things will help me relax a little bit.
 So I challenge you by asking how much are you controlling in your life and what control can you let go of and let God control. Maybe you will not worry so much!

Kind Words

So sorry it has been awhile since I have posted. It has kind of been crazy here with the end of the semester so close! (Crazy Right!!) I am almost there and it is almost summer!!!

Anyway yesterday was my last day with my kindergartners. I made them little baggies of candy and a little toy. I also put a note in their that said you are awesome and to continue being a good student. They all loved the note!! They then continued to say that I am so awesome. Just saying that one word changed their attitudes and mine. It makes you feel so awesome that you can change their day by just using one word.

Proverbs 15:1-  A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

This verse is so true in our everyday life. Think about it when you get a complement it can make your day so much better. If you were mad more then likely they got you to smile. This is so important we are called to lift other people up not tear them down! I challenge you to give a random compliment to some one or just say your awesome. This may make their day or week. You never know how the words you say can change the people around you.

What do you do now that easter is over?

Hey everyone! I am sorry i have not written in a while it has been crazy busy with Easter, exams, papers, and projects! I guess this is life of a college student right!!! hahaha

So Easter was this past weekend. It is the main point in Christianity! Christ is risen! But what do we do now that it is all over....
I was encouraged by my church on campus and my church at home to invite people to come on Sunday. Well my church at home was supper crowded they even had to add seats and my church on campus was in the same boat. So how come Easter is the largest day for people to come. It makes me wonder do we actually have a part in this
I think we do! we invited people we took that step of faith to see where it would go! We are called to go be disciples of God. This means invite people, follow up with people, don't lose contact just because Easter is over. 
So you did your part on inviting them to church on Easter but now you should check up on those people see if they liked it, see if they want to come again!! Help them to continue to grow in their faith!
Just because Easter is over doesn't mean our job is done as Christians! We have to continue to be that light for others.
 So I encourage you to keep inviting people to church lets fill the churches again! Why does it only have to be a once a year thing!

Spending Time with God

This week I was given the challenge to focus on just one verse a day. I can honestly say this is a great idea!! I have learned so much by just applying that one verse to my day.
Yesterday I focused on the verse
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
There is so much going on in this verse!!
1st God is with you!! He is always with you no matter where you go!! What ever you are doing or going through remember he cares enough to follow you. When ever you feel alone know that you are not.
2nd He is mighty to save, This brings in Jesus. Jesus died for you, even though you do not deserve it. He died so you could go to heaven! Jesus died for us sinners before we were even born! He is our great and mighty savior!!!!
3rd He will take great delight in you. God cares about you. He wants a relationship with you. He wants you to know that you are his child and that you are a priority to him. He loves you so remember you are important to Him so never feel that you are not important!
4th He will quiet you with his love! Seek God when you are distressed and feel his love in the tough situations. He is always there for you and wants to comfort you. When you are upset next time remember to ask God to lift you up and allow you to feel his love!!
5th He will rejoice over you with singing. God loves you and is singing to you! This makes me think of when you are little and your parents sing to you to calm you down or to sleep. It is the same thing!! God is showing you that he cares for you and wants you to be at peace in your life!!

God's Plan!!

So as I was on spring break this week I have realized that not only do I have a lot of people that I reconnected with but how much I miss these people too!! It is crazy to think where I was last year at this time to where I am this year!! It has COMPLETELY Different!!!! I often forget that God has the control in my life. He has control over everything. He also says His plan for us is good. I hope that God continues to keep moving in my life and yours. So remember the past times but also look forward because you never know what his Plan for you is!!

Taking time for yourself!!

So it is spring break time for me!!! Although it is still snowing and does not really feel like spring it is a good time for a break. This week has made me think about the time you need to take for yourself! It is so important to take time to relax and just unwind!!! School and life can be so overwhelming you need to take time for yourself so you can do your best everyday. Spending time in prayer or reading the bible are great way to just relax and spend time alone. I know other people like crafts and different types of art these are great ways to just clear your head and relax. I know that I for one do not spend enough time relaxing or to myself. I tend to always want to be on the go all of the time. But just stepping back and realizing that cannot do everything and God wants to see you happy and not overwhelmed. So I challenge you take time for yourself! Relax and have fun!

Proverbs 12:25-Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

Have a great time relaxing everyone! Remember you do not need to actually be on a break to relax and take time for yourself!

Why God!!

So today I find myself questioning God!! I just want to scream and be like WHAT ARE YOU DOING!! He tends to mess up our plans... right. Did you catch that word though OUR plans!! We need to realize that we have to trust God! We have to give Him the control of our lives!
     Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
    He has a plan for your life he knows what He is doing! He is going to produce great outcomes! For example last weekend my car broke down. I had a car full of girls! I was really stressed and didn't understand why now why.... I just kept questioning. After that weekend and as I look back on it I can see God doing great things. One he kept us all safe. Two we were stranded at the nicest tavern that we could have stopped at. Three on of the girls parents came and picked us up and offered their house for us to sleep at for the night. Four I receive a message from a lady back home offering a suburban and a trailer to come get my car so we wouldn't have to pay for a tow. Five the main part that broke was under warranty. And six the girls in my car and I became so much closer!!
      This all came from what i thought was a bad situation. Look at how much goodness came out of it! Next time you are questioning God think about what he could be doing in you life. It may turn out to be a blessing!!

Introduction- why you are important
